The Gathering
First Thanksgiving: Peace Feast will take place on September 26 at Pier 58, the heart of Seattle’s new waterfront.
The gathering will include:
A shared community meal
Indigenous recognition and storytelling
Multicultural participation
Interactive group activities
Ceremony, stillness and reflection
Opportunities for neighbors from different communities to meet one another
Guests will be intentionally mixed into small “family” groups so people from different organizations, backgrounds and communities can experience the event together.
This is designed to be more than an event people attend. It is meant to be an experience people carry home.
Groups and Families
Participation in Kwedi’id organized by community groups. Since the beginning of history, humans have organized themselves into collective communities, focused on security, the production of goods, religion, geography and race. First Thanksgiving will be inviting both Indigenous and non-indigenous groups to the event. Once the feast begins the groups will be intermixed into different families representing some of the totemic elements of the Pacific Northwest; Raven, Prairie, Forest, Lake, Mountain and Sea, etc. Each family will have members from multiple groups.
