Many Cultures, One Table
September 26 | Pier 58 | Seattle Waterfront
First Thanksgiving: Kwedi’id is a new Seattle civic gathering designed to bring people together across culture, community and belief.
At a time when many people feel disconnected from one another, this gathering creates a modern table for Seattle — one rooted in gratitude, food, Indigenous recognition, multicultural community and shared place.
On September 26, up to 300 people from Indigenous, civic, business, faith, nonprofit and cultural communities will gather at Pier 58 on Seattle’s waterfront for an afternoon of food, ceremony, storytelling and connection.
The goal is simple: to help neighbors know one another better and offer Seattle a more honest, generous and inclusive way to gather in gratitude.

Why We’re Gathering
Seattle is a city shaped by many cultures, histories and communities. It is also a city built on Indigenous land, with a deep and complicated history that deserves recognition, respect and care.
First Thanksgiving: Kwedi’id is being created as a place where people can come together not to debate the past, but to build a stronger sense of belonging in the present.
The gathering is inspired by the simple but powerful act of sharing food across difference. It is also rooted in a 35-year Seattle legacy of community meals, Indigenous storytelling, mutual care and shared gratitude.
This is not about replacing Thanksgiving. It is about creating a more intentional civic tradition for Seattle — one that honors Indigenous presence, welcomes many communities and reminds us that gathering around a table can still be powerful.
